Chronicle of the music band Kissing....

Founded in 1924 with the musicians Josef Ebner, Franz Scheibenbogen, Anton Ebner, Gustav Decker, Ludwig Diepold, August Dürrhammer, Georg Deininger senior, Georg Baur, Andreas Riegling and Anton Decker under the conductor Hans Vötter.

1946 – 1977:The history of the current music band Kissing e. V. (MKK) dates back to 1946. Not much was left of the Kissinger brass music of that time. Matthäus Menzinger, Georg Deininger sen., Anton Decker, Johann Vötter, Andreas Rigling, Karl Eser and Friedrich scratches form the “stem”. In addition, there was Gerhard Hofmann, who was "devious" after Kissing, with the trombone as the eighth man, which he later (1950) directed as conductor. In 1950 the musicians from Kissingen  took part in the first post-war folk festival in Mering. The "Kissinger" were reinforced at festivities by musician friends from the Meringer area up to 26 men. Gradually, his own young musicians came along. In 1956, the chapel was first clothed in a traditional jacket and hat, for which the Kissing community provided a “small subsidy”. In 1956 the then Kissingen pastor Matthias Christel made a first visit to Brombach / Black Forest. In 1957, the Brombach/Black Forest Music Association paid a return visit. Kissing takes place in "Short Jerk". In 1959, the Kissinger made the second trip to Brombach / Black Forest with just 11 men. Also present was Josef Schmid (flugelhorn). 1960 Reinforcement through the arrival of the musicians Josef Thüringer, Josef Wenzler, Karl Haas and, for a short time, Franz Schopf. The third trip to Brombach / Black Forest followed. Over the years, the chapel has grown noticeably through additions as a result of the new building activities in Kissing. In 1961, the Brombach/Black Forest Music Association made the second return visit. In the meantime, various types of operations have taken place with a crew of 10 to 16 men. 1968 Excursion to Stanzach / Tyrol. 1969 first trip to Unter-Schönmattenwag / Odenwald. The Kissingers were guests at the MGV Sängerbund with 16 men. Josef Rawein played bass here, Kurt Kugelmann flugelhorn and Hans Kreitmeir the clarinet. 1971 Deployment at the Dinkelscherben folk festival and various local deployments. 1975 The Kissinger brass band went as a festival band to the 100-year song festival in Unter-Schönmattenwag / Odenwald with 20 men. The only female member was Helmi Hofmann (flute). In 1976 there was a "huge surge in membership" initiated by the new tuba player Georg Deininger junior. He also had a sousaphone, donated by Philipp Bernhard. In 1977 the first trip to Wolsfeld / Südeifel took place.

1978:First ordinary general assembly on 11.01. in the Red Cross area. The band gave itself a statute and bears the name “Musikkapelle Kissing e. V. (MKK) and was entered in the register of associations (no. 175). A new board was elected. 1st board became Franz Vötter, conductor Gerhard Hofmann. A festival committee was founded because of the music festival (07.07. - 10.07.). The annual fee was 10 DM  and has to be paid in advance. The number of active musicians had increased from 17 to 35 musicians. Passive members were accepted for the first time. In September 1978, Therese Rawein was the 100th passive member. At the end of 1978, the MKK already had 157 members.

Georg Deininger Sr. celebrates his 70th birthday.

1979:The new costume was officially presented on May 1st. The costs were around 16,000 DM for 40 costumes including hats and pants (3 oversizes 75 DM each). The municipality of Kissing contributed a "sizable" subsidy. Since the spring of 1979, the MKK with its 41 activists has been in demand as a festival band, in particular because of its own sound, since only compositions by the bandmaster Gerhard Hofmann are heard on these occasions, and it is received with applause everywhere. In addition to numerous assignments at home and abroad, the chapel contributes to the cultural enrichment of our community.

The outgoing board member Vötter warned in his report, that attendance at rehearsals has dropped significantly for some. During the public performances themselves, some show signs of fatigue, especially when they dance musically at several “weddings”. Here again, the unity of the MKK should be thought of more in comradely solidarity. The result of the election: 1st board member Georg Deininger, 2nd board member Ludwig Bernhard Sr., treasurer Ignaz Nimfuhr, secretary Kathrin Gapp, conductor Gerhard Hofmann, youth representative Martin Decker. The membership is 275 members. An important point for the MKK is the acquisition of new active members. More articles in the local press should draw attention to the MKK and encourage musicians to play with the MKK. Stricter rehearsals with more precise practice are required. However, this depends on the rehearsal visits of the members.

Operations in 1991: Unfortunately, detailed records are missing. In the summer, contact with the Brombach music band was refreshed by a visit from the Kissingers. 18 December Christmas party in the rehearsal room.

1995:Tenth ordinary General Assembly on November 22, 1995 with new elections. Also in 2002 a memorial mass for the deceased members of the MKK will take place again.

2003:Fourteenth ordinary General Assembly on December 10, 2003 with new elections. The result of the election: 1st board member Georg Deininger, 2nd board member Ignatz Nimfuhr, treasurer Albert Fischer, secretary Bernhard Staffler, conductor Gerhard Hofmann. The membership is 208 members. Gerhard Hofmann is appointed Honorary Conductor. New jackets have to be purchased because some of the active musicians no longer have the right ones. It is decided to apply for grants from the municipality. The relatively small number of active musicians increasingly requires collaboration with the Mering fire department band. An attempt should be made to mobilize junior staff through increased public relations work.

2005:Gerhard Hofman

2006:Fifteenth ordinary General Assembly on March 29, 2006 with new elections. Ignatz Nimfuhr is no longer standing for election due to health reasons. The result of the election: 1st board member Georg Deininger, 2nd board member Herbert Failer, treasurer Albert Fischer, secretary Bernhard Staffler; conductor vacant. The continued existence of the MKK faces a major challenge as another leading voice leaves the chapel. The average age of active musicians is increasing more and more. Man is now reaching the point where the limit of playability is reached. All musicians are aware of this problem and they know that something has to move. It was unanimously decided that the quality of the music rehearsals would be improved again. Peter Ohnheiser agrees to temporarily take over the musical direction during rehearsals. Herbert Failer takes over the flugelhorn part. The current membership is 194 members. Herbert Failer expects the new board of directors to hold regular meetings to discuss current circumstances.

2007:Sixteenth ordinary General Assembly on January 16, 2007 with new elections. The result of the election: 1st board member Herbert Failer, 2nd board member Martin Decker, treasurer Michaela Elbl, secretary Bernhard Staffler; Musical director Peter Ohnheiser. There have been a number of personnel changes over the past year. All active musicians know the current situation. A future existence of the MKK is only possible if everyone has the same goal. In the early general meeting, it was unanimously determined that there must be a perspective for the MKK. The current membership is 190 members. The current development of the number of members is discussed, to involve the passive members more in the life of the association. Recently some active musicians could be won for the MKK. Efforts should still be made to recruit active and passive members. The 1st board of directors points out negative rumors that the MKK should only exist for a short time. All those present agree that this should not actually happen and are trying to prevent it.

2008:Eighteenth Ordinary General Assembly on November 17, 2008 with new elections. The result of the election: 1st board member Herbert Failer, 2nd board member Martin Decker, treasurer Michaela Elbl, secretary Bernhard Staffler; Musical director Peter Ohnheiser. In 2008, about 96 hours of rehearsals were conducted by Peter Ohnheiser. The first board thanked him for the effort and patience he had put in. The MKK had 29 performances in 2008. The addition to the repertoire received consistently positive feedback from the audience. For the ninth time, the MKK went to Törggelen in South Tyrol. The first chairman thanked the organizer Josef Bernhard. He also thanked the board for the good cooperation in  the last two years, which were characterized by a kind of "new beginning". The rehearsals should continue to be used intensively to expand the repertoire and increase quality. The jackets are no longer contemporary. The municipality of Kissing is involved in changing the external appearance. For the first time, association information was issued to all members in the form of a brochure called "Blechbandinfo". There was consistently positive feedback. The content of the Blechbandinfo was: result of new elections, activities / appearances of the MKK with pictures; thanks for the support; “round” birthdays; deaths. A donation of 500 € in favor of the new church bells in St. Stephen, the Christmas party and the tower blowing  rounded off the association's year 2008.

2009:The new jackets are fully here! The purchase of the new club costume is financially supported by the municipality of Kissing. The previous car trailer for the equipment will be replaced by a new one. This could be purchased with the support of various sponsors. This year the organ consecration for the new organ in St. Bernhard will take place. The music band donates 200 euros for the organ dedication, just like at the bell dedication ceremony in St. Stephan. Marcus Bernhard takes over the musical direction from Peter Ohnheiser. Greater emphasis is therefore placed on practicing the new repertoire during the rehearsals. The Kissinger Blechbandinfo appears for the second time. With this form of annual review, all members of the association can gain an insight into the life of the association. Matthias Lindermeir, Franz Vötter, Ludwig Bernhard and Josef Schmid are made honorary members this year. Everyone has worked intensively on the development of the club in the past. The rehearsal room in the old school is being renovated. The performance in Bachern, the traditional 60s festival and the first Kissinger Oktoberfest are the musical highlights this year. Also worth mentioning are the numerous celebrations within the chapel (weddings, milestone birthdays).

2010:The Südtirolfahrt zum Törggelen takes place for the 10th time. This excursion has become an integral part of club life, which means that passive members and friends of Kissinger Musik can also be involved in club life. A large photo session takes place in autumn – a new group photo as well as register and portrait photos give the association a new appearance. The general meeting largely confirmed the current board of directors in the 18th general meeting: Herbert Failer, represented by Martin Decker, remains chairman of the association. Finances are managed by Wolfgang Schaule, who is checked by  Veronika Maier and Josef Bernhard. Bernhard Staffler will continue to be the secretary. Marcus Bernhard remains musical director.  Markus Röhm takes care of the maintenance of the sheet music and the maintenance of the homepage. Sandra Baasner is elected as youth representative. The musical performance at the brewery festival in Kühbach and the fire brigade festival should be our highlights this year. One likes to remember these performances, which made Kissinger music known beyond the community borders.

2011:Due to her two-year term of office, there will be no change within the board of directors. Herbert Failer is the chairman of the Kissing band. New this year is the internal extension of the club name as "Die Kissinger".  This is also visible in various new acquisitions: Every musician receives a personalized shirt with the club name embroidered._cc781905-5cde -3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_ The old music stand hanging will also be replaced with the new "club logo".  We made a very positive musical impression at the boys' festival in Baierberg. At this appearance one could reap the laurels for the chosen path and the efforts of the past years. It was fun for everyone involved to contribute to the success of this festival. An incredibly excellent momentum has developed that could not be planned or topped in any way. Our annual club outing (in addition to the Tröggelefahrt) took us this year through the Meringer Fluren in the truest sense of the word.

2012:This year, the Kissinger will play 29 gigs, some of which will be larger, and around 8 serenades. The special highlights are the anniversary concert together with the men's choir, the strong beer festival in Mering and the beer tent appearance in Rohrbach. A contemporary stage background will also be purchased this year. This makes the appearance of the "Kissinger" more and more professional. To strengthen club life, we visit the "Hiasl Erlebniswelt" in Mergenthau on this year's club outing  Besuch. On their trip to France (Amberieu), a Kissinger delegation supported the Meringer fire brigade band. They also appear at the  Trachtenumzug in Mering together with the fire brigade band and thus also set an example for the long-standing friendship between the two bands in the district. The 19th General Assembly brought the following result: Herbert Failer remained the first and second board member and Martin Decker. Also  for the office of treasurer and secretary Wolfgang Schaule and Bernhard Staffler are confirmed. Marcus Bernhard will remain musical director. Vroni Maier and Josef Bernhard will once again be responsible for checking the finances. Johanna Berchtold is newly elected as youth representative. Markus Röhm continues to take care of the maintenance of the sheet music and the appearance on the Internet.

2013:"Help that arrives" - with this year's association donation, the band supports the "parents' initiative for children with cancer". The musicians have already donated part of the fee in recent years. There were no changes within the Board of Directors this year. Herbert Failer remains the "first man" of the club. The club's equipment for a performance in a beer tent or a comparable festivity is becoming more and more extensive. In the Paartalhalle, therefore, the opportunity was once again taken without time pressure  to set up all available material and label it accordingly. In this context, the enormous cable lengths that have to be laid each time were also interesting – there are many meters. The subsequent musical rehearsal showed once again the possibilities and the improvements of the last few years, which are not least due to the commitment of the musical director. In Steinach the opportunity was taken this year to show musical ability. The local club festivals should be framed over a whole weekend. As the Kissinger association "Die Kissinger", this year's excursion led through the Kissinger Fluren. Despite the short-term planning, most of the musicians were able to free up time for this afternoon. An autumn snack with wine and bacon as well as other delicacies rounded off the excursion. By now it should be clear that another delegation was making its way to South Tyrol.

In January we say goodbye to our longstanding member Josef Schmidt. Eddi Thurner was honored as an honorary member. In March we showed our musical skills in Mering for the 3rd time in a row, because at the strong beer festival there, everyone involved and the numerous guests with brass band and big band had a great time. In June there is a 4-day anniversary celebration of the Altortjugend Kissing. We are allowed to musically frame the entire day of the clubs, the flag consecration with service and the wake-up call.           _cc781905-5cde-3194 -bb3b-136bad5cf58d_           _cc781905 -5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_         _cc781905-5cde-3194- bb3b-136bad5cf58d_           _cc781905- 5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_     _cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b- 136bad5cf58d_           _cc781905-5cde- 3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_                     _cc781905-5cde-3194 -bb3b-136bad5cf58d_           _cc781905 -5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_     _cc781905-5 cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_         _cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b -136bad5cf58d_           _cc781905-5cde -3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_         _cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b- 136bad5cf58d_           _cc781905-5cde- 3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_     _cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58 d_           _cc781905-5cde- 3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_                     _cc781905-5cde-3194 -bb3b-136bad5cf58d_           _cc781905 -5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_     _cc781905-5cde-3194-bb 3b-136bad5cf58d_           _cc781905- 5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_

At the Cold Water Challenge, we're the first band in the area to play music in pairs with our feet wet in the ice-cold water, starting a trend in the county.
With traditional marches and polkas we wish a great patron of the MKK "Max Weilnhammer" all the best and above all health for his 80th birthday.           _cc781905-5cde-3194 -bb3b-136bad5cf58d_           _cc781905 -5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_         _cc781905-5cde-3194- bb3b-136bad5cf58d_           _cc781905- 5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_     _cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b- 136bad5cf58d_           _cc781905-5cde- 3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_                     _cc781905-5cde-3194 -bb3b-136bad5cf58d_           _cc781905 -5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_     _cc781905-5 cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_         _cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b -136bad5cf58d_           _cc781905-5cde -3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_         _cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b- 136bad5cf58d_           _cc781905-5cde- 3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_     _cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58 d_           _cc781905-5cde- 3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_                     _cc781905-5cde-3194 -bb3b-136bad5cf58d_           _cc781905 -5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_     _cc781905-5cde-3194-bb 3b-136bad5cf58d_           _cc781905- 5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_        Our highlight this year is certainly in our 90 year celebration in Kisstal. Under the patronage of Mayor Manfred Wolf, we are organizing an evening filled with pieces from the entire spectrum of our repertoire. From the Archduke Albrecht March to the current hit "Breathless - by Helene Fischer" there is something for every taste. With this we also want to show our appreciation to our longtime composer Gerhard Hofmann (V2005), who composed almost 500 pieces for the band.

Birthday. Of course we serenade him extensively on this day of honor. With around 95 hours of music rehearsals in 2015, we are constantly striving to expand our repertoire and improve our quality. This year we, 24 active musicians, are again organizing various festivals, such as the strong beer festival of the Mering marching band, the V-Markt Oktoberfest and also the anniversary festival 110 years of Gunzenleeschützen Kissing. We all have a lot of fun with the musical accompaniment at the sports association Helios Kissing in May. Fortunately, we have had the opportunity to play in beer tents outside of Kissing for a long time. Festwirt Asum engaged us to the city festival in Stadtbergen on Father's Day. As a "highlight" we play on August 15, 2015 at the Friedberg folk festival for a morning pint and on Saturday evening. Some temporary workers supported us for this all-day music event. A huge thank you again to all of you!  This year's club outing in September involves walking to the burial mounds near the Seewieshöfe. Once there, Hanns Merkl thankfully explains to us the background and history of the facility. We ended the trip with a hearty snack. At the beginning of November, some active and passive musicians and family members will go to South Tyrol for Törggelen, as they do every year. Our musical year 2015 ended with performances at the Christmas markets in Kissing and Gut Mergenthau as well as a cozy Christmas party. On Christmas Eve, like every year, we organized the tower trumpet in Neukissing and the musical accompaniment before Christmas mass in Altkissing.

A big thank you goes to the Altortjugend in Kissingen, who engaged us to the Altortjugendfest in September this year. We also thank the 60's fan club; here, like every year, we are allowed to provide musical support for the traditional 1960s festival. Our neighboring clubs also deserve a big thank you, because we can also see great performances with them. In March we play at the Mering Strong Beer Festival, in June at the 130th anniversary of the FFW Ried and in August at the Friedberg folk festival. In April we congratulate our long-standing member Ludwig Bernhard on his 80th birthday. In April we also congratulate Mayor Manfred Wolf on 20 years in office. In May our active member Josef Kreigl celebrates his 50th birthday, in October our Tilo Heckmann invites you to celebrate his 50th birthday. Our "Helene" alias Johanna is getting married in autumn. All musicians are cordially invited to this festival and look forward to their future together with the couple. We maintain our club life on several trips. In summer we paddle from the "Gloch" to the "Paarstüberl Mergenthau", then we have a barbecue in the "Alte Schule". We visit the Kissinger Stephanskirche on our autumn excursion. Climbing the tower and viewing the roof truss of the nave round off our excursion. Some musicians and relatives are also going to the Törggelen in South Tyrol again - thanks to Bepp for organizing it. Unfortunately Wolfgang Schaule and Helmut Röhm left the band after 10 and 9 years respectively. Thank you very much for the many years of great musical support. Luckily we were able to register new members again, so that we are also prepared for the next year. We were joined by: Uta and Hannah Fischer (sax and drums), Jochen Langer (drums; electric bass; trombone), Max Menz (drums) and Alexander Mikuta (flugelhorn/trumpet).

Effective immediately, he will be replaced by Marcus Bernhard, who has previously been the musical director of the band. We wish him all the best in his new role. Max Menz takes over the office of conductor and musical director with immediate effect. We wish him a lot of joy and success in his new and varied task. We say thank you to our former musicians Stefan Funk, Eduard Thurner and Josef Bernhard, who all played music with us until 2017. We welcome Petra new to the e-guitar and vocals. In April we congratulate Josef Müller on his 80th birthday with a musical serenade, and Bernhard Staffler (2nd board member) on his 40th birthday. We present our "modern" hits and beer tent music at the strong beer festivals in Mering and Merching, the city festival in Stadtbergen (May), the sports awards ceremony of the AIC district (May) and the 60s festival in Altkissing (August). Musically, we are again participating in numerous charitable performances in Kissing and the surrounding area, for example at the New Year's reception, the communion processions, the Saalerfest Altkissing (10th anniversary) and the national day of mourning in November. We also frame the citizens' meeting in the Paartalhalle with our varied music. The year is drawing to a close with performances at the HHK Christmas markets and at Gut Mergenthau. We are still urgently looking for active musicians, especially for the trombone, baritone and tenor horn registers. In addition to social music rehearsals, we also have club excursions on the program that new musicians can look forward to. This year we paddled from the "Gloch" to the "Paarstüberl Merghentau" in summer, where, thanks to Uli Resele and Monika Fottner, we then had a cozy barbecue together and let the evening fade away. Like every year, some musicians went to South Tyrol for the Törggelen in November.
